Peacock Bass Again
I have not gone back to Air Kuning for sometime........ Here I am again with a friend from Macau on this sunny scorching day fishing for Peacock Bass......... Due to some rain fall the week before, the water level of the pond had rose up alot and the water is clear and black in colour condition.......( Should be a good time ahead ). Out challenge came up with a 40cm close fish kicked start the day......... Siu Keong's catch.......... Caught a Toman with it's magnificent metallic-green mating dress..........Way to go! A 3.5kg plus mama Toman.............. with a medium light Steez rod Blizt 651 MLRB, Steez 100HL reel and 20lb PE line joint with 30lb mono line.......... It was truly an exciting moment indeed.
Siu Keong followed up with his other catches............
And that goes for this Haruan too...........
A nearly 50cm up biggie for me......... Yeah!!!
We went to a different pond..........Here comes Siu Keong's first catch of the day........... Wow! What a powerful fight it put up........
Finally a new personal record for him with this 50cm up male Peacock Bass...... Bravo!!!

Sungei Keniyam
Sg. Keniyam of Taman Negara Pahang is a branch off of Tembeling River...... it used to be a place rich with KELAH (Malayan Masheer). In this time of the year I have not had a chance to set foot into Jungle river fishing since my last trip to Sg. Singor last year June.......... This was a little R&R trip with my friend Yeo who wanted to do a camp outing..........
This poor MUSANG BUAH ( Common Palm Civet ) lay dead on the trunk road to Taman Negara Pahang......... Poor little Civet. As usual, reaching Kuala Tahan Jetty of Taman Negara takes a 4 hour drive from KL.........
Nothing much has changed here, everything stays the same as it was from my last visit.......Off we go after we had registered ourselves and got the permit to enter the park........All the way shooting up through rapids to the upper section of Tembeling River...........Heading up stream of Keniyam River............

Orang Asli (Native aboriginies) means original people in English, who have lived here for decades along this Keniyam River.......... Passing through the Orang Asli village up we go further more........ Finally, we reached a nice camping ground near the estuary of Perkai River........
A simple camping style just with two layers of fly sheet...... one on the floor and one on the top......It is quite a cozy one wheren everybody can sleep together..........
Tried a few casts from the Perkai river bank......... aimed at a deeper stagnant water pool near the estuary of the two rivers,.....this Sebarau (Jungle Perch) came after my third cast.......... it was pulling strong straight to a snatch near the river bank and got stuck for awhile before I actually landed it...... Sebarau living in the jungle river are damn good fighters compared with those living in the pond or lake. The bite did not continue after I had landed one Sebarau.......... So, I picked up some oil palm fruit to do a little bottom fishing............
Here comes Ikan Rong trying to steal the oil palm fruit.........

A beautiful blossom wild ginger flower.........
Picked up some Paku sayur (Diplazium esculentum) along the river for dinner tonight,.... it is an edible fern found throughout the jungle of Asia......
Deep fried Sebarau........

Deep fried Sebarau........
This was the first time Yeo ate a Sebarau,.......... "I can't stop eating the crispy fried Sebarau, even the bones were gobble up" said Yeo......... Heavy rain came immediately after our meal..........
The rain did not stop even untill night fell..........
It rained heavier through out the night.......
The Keniyam River got cloudy after last night's heavy rain........... There were no catches the next morning and the sky looked like it was going to rain again in the late afternoon. So, we decided to pack up our goods and head back home earlier.......... Well, the rain came at the wrong timing and ruined our fishing plans........ Bad luck!
