Hulu Terengganu Mati River

Sungai Hulu Terengganu Mati was one of the best jungle river fishing that I used to remember going many years ago,.... But now that the government owned TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) is having a massive hydroelectric project at the upper reaches of Sungai Terengganu, upstream of Kenyir Lake,.... and expected completion and the station made operational by October 2015. This new reservoir will be named Puah Dam......
Well, if we still don't go now then when?! We planned to pay it a visit before this place is fully flooded with water.......
Since this place will eventually be flooded,.... timber tycoons (government associates) are making use of every limited time available to quickly cut down the trees for you know what..... Due to the massive movement of timber trucks, 'highway' like dirt roads have been created in this part of the hills for this purpose......
Our convoy of 4x4s with 20 over people steadily making our way in.......
A massive tent accomodation for more than 20 people in the making......
Everybody busy setting up their bunks....
Big devastation to the environment..... The on going loggings have totally defaced the original environment and habitat......
Mud and silts everywhere, what a sad sight......
Even such bad river conditions could not stop our buddy here from landing some fat Bujuks......
These guys are really good at what they do.....
These will end up you know where lah...... 20 over stomachs are waiting for it, he he he.....
Plentiful catches for everyone with the bottom fishing of Stream Catfish (Baung Akar)....
For those who don't fish, they kept themselves amuse by swimming and frolicking nearby..... Most of these guys are here just to escape the hustle and bustle and stress of the city.....
A mini restaurant in the middle of no where??? Look how well equipt this make shift kitchen is......
We are never short of a good cook, a 'CHEF' by standard actually......
Yet another 'chef' happily to cook.....
These guys are amazing, they brought so much fresh produce here for cooking...... It's just like having a meal at home.......

This is indeed one of the best dishes around - sweet, sour and spicy kai-choy cooked in the broth made from 4 matured hen boiled for 4 hours. Ummmmm ummmph - DELICIOUS!!!
See! Yet another chef cooking mouth watering curry chicken...... Are we here for fishing or what??!!
Nightfall, everone yapping away with beer in hand .... ALL NIGHT....
Got myself a small reward - Stream Catfish!
Easy catch!!....
We sliced up the fishes caught into fillets and......
..... brought it to a restaurant in town to be served sashimi style or lightly dipped in hot broth. Slurp slurp!!!
Looking at these pictures once more now can't help but make my saliva drooling again.....
Yummy yummy......
You name it, we got it...... Steamed, boiled, fried....... Oh no! Put on weight again......
