Air Kuning Peacock Bass Challenge

Tanjong Tualang is well known for Peacock Bassing these few years, and even more famous today. So much so it has attracted the attention of the Japan anglers........Only last weekend did another Japanese guest who wanted to challenge the Peacock Bass, and flew all the way from Japan just to fulfill his target dream fish..... We started fishing at the most inner pond, so that we can check each pond from inner part to the outside area......Few weeks without raining, Air kuning now is at it dry season.....The water has dropped over 2 meters......And it is starting to stink. This morning we only managed to land 3 Toman, about a kilo size each......Local fisherman with his catches.......Rohu, Loma, Patong, Peacock Bass, and Ketutu ( Bamboo Fish).......Plenty of it.... Our guest has landed a small Peacock Bass after we moved to another pond in that morning..... What a sunny day it was and it's really hot in the afternoon.....The tempreture is getting higher and higher, and the fish is not aggressive at all.....
After a hard work of casting our guest Mr.Okamura finally landed another small fish....
A short nap after lunch.......Battery charging! He He He.....3:30pm we started again our game at another pond where we named it Leong-Chan pond.....In that evening I try to fish too and this my my fish.....dark in colour, beautiful hah....
Mr. Okamura also landed a few small Bass for himself.... and that's all for the first day.
Next morning ,we chosed another pond as our hunting ground......it led to a good result indeed, Mr. Okamura caught a 47cm size with a top water lure immediately at the second cast....
Another fish with same size...........Good catch man!!
Wow!! Congratualations..........Not bad for our first timer result.....Yeah!!
Another fish size 45cm..........
Can't stand it anymore and had to cast for myself too........45cm He He He!!
Another catch, what great luck for me too......Yahoo!
Toman 1 kilo plus...... Mr. Okamura was happy with his catch......
At noon we moved to a different pond, we cannot believe it, it was the pond I used to catch the large Peacock Bass here...........The whole pond is drying up! It seems a storm is coming, we stopped and went back to our motel........No result for that evening.
The final day morning, we went back to the same pond where we had good results yesterday......
We slipped into the pond before dawn break.........But, only small fry entertained us in the early morning...... Yes! Finally came the big one...........fought hard and landed the bugger....
Good size 50cm. Wow! 50up for our guest........Yeah!What a nice male with the crown on its head........Thanks!!........Bye Bye!This is the lure used by Mr. Okamura.......forgot its name?Top water Dog-X, Got myself a 52cm big guy............He He Another good size one.........Yes!
YES! 52cm for our guest too.........おめてどう!

Taman Negara Pahang

It has been a while since the last trip to Taman Negara Pahang. After the Chinese New Year it had not rain for two continuous week and there were rumours of good catches around the area recently......So this time we decided to go to Keniyam River to try our luck......
Kuala Tahan is where we started our journey. Because of no rain at all, the water level dropped tremendously........ Sungai Tembeling is the main river system of Taman Negara Pahang and it is only at this dry season, the water is at its clearest....... From Kuala Tahan to Sungai Keniyam, it takes a 3-hour boat ride through many rapids.........
A short rest at Kampong Pagi along the Tembeling River........ Enter to the Keniyam River......... It was a challenge to go up stream because of many of obstacles ahead.......
Some shallow places we had to heave the boat across........
Long before reaching the camp site, everyone was already dead tired....
