Fish and Hunt

Snakehead fishing was a favorite activity of mine during my early stage of fishing experience, and it still is now..... But all my previous fishing spot is no longer conducive anymore due to developments, pollution, and over fishing..... I am so lucky to have acquaintance with a group of senior fishermen who had brought me to some of their nice fishing spots.
This was a trip during the weekend to a place near Triang town for some action..... A swamp snakehead fishing is a most skillfully and technically casting required game, look at the fishing ground..... you have to make the most accurate lure cast into the snags and sunken trees where the fish usually hides to produce a good result.....
And you have to be nimble enough to leap and jump across this area, less you want to get stuck in deep mud.....
A few juvenile Tomans were caught in that morning....
And for the live frog casting members, they caught a nice size Haruan and Bujuk.....
When night fell, these guys suggested to do something interesting....
These guys are not just your everyday ordinary anglers, they are even very good hunters.....
They succesfully gun down 2 wild boars....
They are even very good at butchering wild boars.....
A good butcher needs a good chef to complement each other. Look at the amount of cooking utensils they had brought with them...... Looking at them at work makes me sullivate profusely..... Can't wait to taste the meat.....
Hard at work preparing.....
It's so AROMATIC......  EHmmmmmm!!
Finally, this is what I've been waiting for..... These old men are damn good at what they do... DELICIOUS!!!

Family Trip to Tioman

This was a family trip to Tioman,.... It's been a while since my last visit to the island, It is still looking good and beautiful with it's natural resources.... Sunshine, wind, emerald water and fish. I am back!!
Nice old sandy beach.....
Time for a family outing just to slow down the pace and enjoy life a little.....
This was the first time for my second daughter to experience the sea..... She was really over excited with everything about the beach....
Spending a quiet weekend under the blue sky and coconut trees..... just awesome!!
This trip was meant for the children,.... everything was so new and interesting to them, even flying kites too was an enjoyable time indeed......
My Loksi,..."Dad! Look what I drew.... it's my kite!!"...... Dad, " Is your kite flying or laying down?".... Loksi, "........?!"
A montage of my youngest - Lokyi.......
Fun in the sea..... crab and fishes
A time well spend together with my kids..... Cheers!

Snakehead Fishing

Snakehead fishing was one of my earliest fish target when I started to fall in love with fishing,.... the traditional way to fish snakehead here is to use a live little frog to cast out and retrieve to perform the tempting action for the bite.....
Every lure fishermen will do the same when come to fishing the Forest Snakehead in the swamps,... they tend to fall back on using the traditional way which is using a live frog instead of artificial lure.... Ohh No! Not for me.... I insist on using a jig head with soft plastic lure.....
This is where the snakehead inhabits.....
Bujuk in Malay is what the local call the Forest Snakehead (Channa lucius)..... This specie of snakehead lives in the slow-flowing forest streams and swamps where it can feeds on smaller fish, frogs and freshwater shrimps.... Beautiful fish isin't it?!
A rare catch by Piaw of a Emperor Snakehead (Channa Marulioides)...... Great!~
A biger Bujuk was caught after that......
I don't have much result on this day,.... this small "Haruan" Striped Snakehead (Channa striata) was my only catch....Sighhh! What a bad day......

Chiew-Lan Dam

Chiew-Lan Dam also named as Ratchaprapha lake, stiuated in Khao Sok National Park, located in the South of Thailand.... This was my short trip together with my Thai friend from Bangkok to have a little survey of a few rivers within the park.....
Khao Sok National Park is famous for it's many tall limestone mountain formations, with it's vertical slopes, caves, and beautiful emerald colour waters through out the lush thick rain forest.... It was probably only one of its kind in whole of Thailand.... The amazingly beautiful karsts and lake may  make it easier now to approach many parts of the forest by boat.....
Our floating shelter in the interior most part of the lake......
Oh no! The rain starting to fall on us.....
Oooooh! Heavy rain...... Sighhhh......
Heavy down pour.....
This is what happens after a few days of rain fall inside the deepest part of the dam.....
Even in this unpleasantly tough condition, my friend Mr.Nakarin was able to score a big size Toman....
Dinner at the Floating shelter with the ranger incharged......
Again the next morning, the weather was not on our side..... looks like rain will come anytime.
This are some catches before the down pour again...... but only caught some young Tomans...
Those small Barbs caught around the floating shelter...... is an easy catch before it gets spook.
Our 3 Days 2 Nights shelter.....
Food served at the shelter......
The food here tasted really good and appetisingly Thai....
This great looking Thailand Blue Masheer was caught by the local fisherman who shelter in this floating hut.....
Well, this was my last photo on this trip,.... My boat flipped over during a casting session drifting along one of the river inside while a heavy rain fell.... The accident caused me to lose my Canon G10 and along with all my photos,.... plus 5 boxes of my lures too...... arrrhhh!! After the incident I managed to recover the boat and it's engine which my boatman wasn't able to find it under the murky fast flowing waters after a long time...... We drifted down the river and rowed for a long time until someone came looking for us.... my sandals was washed away and recovered down stream at the river the next day...
What an experience it was for me....
Rain and rain,.... the rain fall all day long even when making my way out from there....
Another trouble occured during the way out in the middle of a heavy down pour....
Yet another bad incident happened on the road,.... which made us wasted much time waiting for another pick up at the half way back to town....
That night by the riverside restaurant which we talked about our trip experiences under the night sky....
