Fishing in China

This was a trip made back in Aug 2012.... So sorry for updating my blog so late as I had been pre-occupied for the past few months....
This was a trip that Hoe and I went to Yunnan, China.... Our journey starts here at Kunming Central Station.....
Waiting to board our train,.... Look at the massive crowd. It's just mind blogging......
Luckily, the coach has quite comfortable seats by the way.....
A 6-hour long tiring train ride..... Some beautiful scenes like this greeted us along the way......
Arriving Guizhou late in the summer evening.......
This was the only food stall we saw at this hour of the night on our way to the dam. Well, Dog Meat Noodle was the only choice.... Tasted not bad at all......
Waiting to embark in the morning after a simple egg noodle meal.....
Awaiting for our boatman in the morning.......
What a breath taking view this place has to offer?.......
Beautiful scenes abound everywhere, but sadly I can't say the same for the fishing....
This was our only lucky catch of that day.... and even this Cichlid fish was not a native fish,... was introduced from another country..... Sighhhh!
And there was no action at all in the whole afternoon.......
Better take a dip in the waters....
We found out later that the fish here are only active very early in the morning.... So, we made sure we started much earlier the next day.... And we were rewarded accordingly for our effort albeit having only caught small ones.....
There just doesn't seem to be any biggies around...... Where is the big fish?!!
Close up of this Skygazer (Chanodichthys erythropterus).....
We decided to make a move to a different location to try our luck and more beautiful sceneries greeted us along the way.....
Selling local produce by the road side.....Fresh sunflower seeds, anyone???....
Not too bad at all......
And yet another shop selling Dog Meat.... This one actually promotes Crispy Dog Skin....
The proprietor hard at work preparing our dish......
Another delicious way to chow down.... Yum! Yum!!
Finally, at our next destination.....
A farmer's boat house restaurant complete with lodging offering all kinds of food and recreation activities.....

We rented a floating house to bunk for the next few nights here......
Our simple abode for the night.....
A simple meal provided during our stay here,.....Can't complain about the food......
Avatar like sceneries greeted us again the next early morning....
After all we are still looking for the elusive big one......
Looks like it was not to be either here.....
Refreshments accompanied by pickled onion......
Good weather, good beer, good company..... this is life!!!
We rented a boat to take off before dawn heading towards the Northern part of the dam to search for better fishing grounds.......
Some beautiful scenes along the way......
So many beautiful sceneries everywhere......
.... but the fish was no where to be seen.....
So, we had to be contented with a simple lunch.....
A simple spread....
Back to the village empty handed that afternoon.....
 Some village scenes.....
Looks like we had to be contented with just catching small fishes that evening......
Small spoons for small fish..... Sighhhh!!
Really smallllll, but we do enjoy ourselves catching them with little spoons..... 蓝刀鱼Hemicculter Leuciclus (Basilewaky)....
马口鱼(Opsariichthys bidens) a ray-finned fish.....
Cute!!....
Sorry! I don't know this fish name, the locals claim it is very rare here in this dam....
This native Catfish was caught by the local fisherman,.... It is a wealthy income for him to sell it to restaurants......
We were welcomed and warmly treated by the local authority - China Marine.....

What a wonderful hospitality extended to us..... CHEERS!!
